What we look for in our Graduates
We look for graduates from all disciplines. We want individuals not clones and we want people who have motivation, commitment and energy to bring to our organisation. In terms of academic requirements we don’t like to set too tight parameters as we know the profession is and should continue to be diverse and we don’t want to lose out on good people.
Generally we expect you to hold at least a 2:2 degree and at least 3 Cs at A level but we always consider applications on merit so if you feel you have got what it takes irrespective of your academic performance to date make sure your skills, experience and commitment shines through in your application.
In terms of personal qualities and experience we look for:
Work Experience
We would expect you to have some legal experience which could be through voluntary work, part of an organised placement scheme, or full time/part time employment in the legal sector. We also value non legal work experience to build your commerciality and transferable skills.
Commercial Awareness
We also want people who are capable of being business advisors; you need to understand the commercial world so make sure you are up to speed with current business issues, read journals, trade press and newspapers.
Outside of work…
We want people who can demonstrate interests outside work and study, with a healthy work/life balance. We don’t have any prescribed interests, it could be music, travel, sport voluntary activities or cultural whatever you enjoy. We want to work with interesting people!
Know your profession
If you are going to convince us that you want a career in law then you need to know your profession….You need to know why you want to work for us, why this is your niche or at least your interest in the profession generally.
